Eddie Valiant’s Country Rap Journey is a tale of passion and persistence. Growing up in a rural area, Eddie’s love for music started with Country and Southern Rock. Over time, his journey took him from turntables to creating Country Rap, a genre that combines his roots with a love for Hip-Hop.
Eddie didn’t grow up with Hip-Hop. Living in a small town, it wasn’t popular. Then, one day, he heard Paul Revere by the Beastie Boys. “It was like nothing else I had heard before,” Eddie recalls. The track sparked his curiosity, pushing him to learn everything about Hip-Hop’s history and culture.
At age 13, Eddie got his first production setup. A year later, he received his first turntables, thanks to his dad’s support. “I fell in love with creating and manipulating music,” he says. This passion set him on a lifelong journey into music production.
Eddie’s music career wasn’t always smooth. At 21, he battled addiction for eight years. Drugs disrupted his life and career. He often pawned equipment and burned bridges. Despite the setbacks, Eddie found strength in music. “I draw inspiration from my past to make sure I never look back,” he shares.
One of Eddie’s lowest points came when sabotage during a club gig ruined a performance. The speakers blew out, leaving him humiliated. Yet, he didn’t quit. Instead, he shifted focus to music production. Creating original music gave him a sense of purpose and helped him leave his struggles behind.
Eddie’s move into Country Rap happened by chance. While sampling bluegrass in a session, he discovered a unique sound. Collaborations with OTB Yung Dash and Hard Target helped him dive deeper into the genre. “Country Rap blends so many styles—anyone can enjoy it,” Eddie explains.
His songs, like G.R.I.T.S. and Fast Lane, showcase the mix of Country, Hip-Hop, and bluegrass. Eddie sees the genre as more than music. “It’s genuine, heartfelt, and connects with people from all walks of life,” he says.
Eddie has big plans. On November 22, 2024, he will release two new singles: Way She Goes and Dixie Cup. He also hopes to collaborate with artists like Lil Wyte and Yelawolf. “I feel like I’m right where I should be,” Eddie says.
For those starting in music, his advice is simple. “Make the music you love. Don’t try to please others. Be original.“
