“Never Give Up and embrace where you’re from.“ These words capture the essence of CornBred, an artist who fuses Southern Rock, Country, and Hip-Hop into a powerful blend of storytelling and sound. His music reflects life’s struggles and triumphs, proving that determination can turn pain into art.

CornBred’s Roots: Where Music Began

CornBred’s love for music started early, inspired by his father, John Sr., who played Southern Rock classics like Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Allman Brothers. “Hearing ‘Simple Man’ by Johnny Van Zant hooked me for life,” he shares.

Growing up, his taste in music expanded to include harder rock like Metallica and even rap and hip-hop. Despite challenges and shifting genres, his roots in Southern music remained a constant influence.

Turning Heartache Into Harmony

Though music was always part of his life, CornBred didn’t pursue it as a career until 2021, following the tragic loss of his wife, Priscilla. This heartbreaking event became a catalyst. “Music saved me during my darkest days,” he says.

With his stepson’s recording setup, CornBred poured his emotions into creating songs. In just two years, he’s transformed that grief into a blend of genres that resonate with his audience.

A Backroad of Musical Evolution

CornBred describes his sound as a mix of his heroes, from Tupac to Alice in Chains. But his unique style shines through in tracks like Broken Road.

“My life is a backroad,” he sings, a line that captures the raw honesty of his journey. Collaborating with Amp Jackson, CornBred turned a rough draft into an anthem that energizes his fans during live performances.

The Legacy to Never Give Up

For CornBred, music is a vehicle to inspire others. He hopes his songs motivate people to persevere. “If my music can move just one person, I’ve done my job,” he says.

His advice to aspiring artists? “Simplify. Focus on great hooks and let the story flow.” With new collaborations and performances ahead, CornBred is ready to take his backroad journey to new heights. His song “Dirty” currently in 2nd place on the Swamp Radio Chart Of The Month for November.
